Language and Cultural Liaison Program
AKPIRC’s Language and Cultural Liaison (LCL) program offers support to parents who are reluctant to partner with schools or who are limited English speakers, thereby overcoming significant barriers to parent involvement. The LCL program involves parents through home visits, workshops, and ongoing communication with teachers and administrators.
The LCL program is available in Anchorage and Yupiit School Districts. If you are interested in developing an LCL program in your district AKPIRC has the resources available to help you with this. Many of our parent informational guides are available in Hmong, Samoan, and Spanish.

The program manual provides an introduction to the LCL program and includes reporting forms that AKPIRC created to record and document the LCL’s work with families and schools. The AKPIRC Parent Handbook introduces parents to the benefits and agreements associated with enrolling in the LCL personal visit program. Additional resources include a complete set of workshop PowerPoint presentations with accompanying training materials.
If you have questions or would like us to send you the additional LCL training workshop materials and program evaluations, please call our AKPIRC office at 907.349.0651 or email Julie Jessal juliej@serrc.org.
